How can I pick the right advisor?

Are you licensed?

We are licensed both in Israel and America. Douglas Goldstein is licensed by the Israel Securities Authority as an Investment Marketer, is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional, and holds the following registrations with either FINRA, the SEC, or a state regulatory agency, in the United States: General Securities Representative Examination (Series 7); General Securities Sales Supervisor Examination (Series 8); Futures Managed Funds Examination (Series 31); Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination (Series 63); Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination (Series 65). Can I buy mutual funds if I live outside the United States?

Many people have had trouble purchasing mutual funds because they don’t have a U.S. address. We can help you find a solution to this problem. For more specifics, read this.

How do I know which stocks, bonds, or funds to buy? Can you help me?

Yes! We will work with you so you learn about the different types of investment vehicles available. This way, you can make the most appropriate choice for your individual situation. Where are my investments held?

Client assets are held in a U.S. brokerage account in the client’s name. Profile is associated with the International Private Brokerage™ firm Portfolio Resources Group, Inc., (PRG) and securities are offered through PRG, which is a member of FINRA, SIPC, MSRB, SIFMA, and FSI. Accounts are carried by Pershing LLC., Member NYSE/SIPC, a subsidiary of The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation. That means that Pershing is the company that actually holds your account. Pershing handles $1.7 trillion in global client assets and is a subsidiary of BNY Mellon, which has over $32 trillion in assets under custody and/or administration (as of September 2017). Can I open an account if I’m not American or if I live outside of America?

Yes. Because of regulatory concerns and costs, many brokerage firms turn away clients who live outside the United States. Portfolio Resources Group Inc.’s compliance team, with more than 25 years of experience in international markets, has carefully researched the rules and regulations and welcomes people who live abroad to have U.S. investment accounts so they can enjoy all of the benefits and services from an International Private Brokerage™ account relationship.

What types of accounts can I open?

We can help you open any type of investment account that you need. Typical account types include individual accounts, joint accounts, corporate and trust accounts, and Individual Retirement Accounts (including beneficiary/deceased IRAs, traditional and Roth IRAs, as well as SEP, Keogh, and others). What exactly does your company do?

We open U.S. investment (brokerage) accounts for people who live outside of America.

We help folks like you create financial and retirement plans, and then we assist in opening and maintaining U.S. brokerage accounts at Portfolio Resources Group, Inc., a U.S. brokerage firm which specializes in helping people who live outside the United States. We work in the exact same way that American brokerage firms work, except that we have a local Israeli presence and are skilled in issues facing dual citizens.

Technical Details
My current brokerage firm sent me a letter saying they will no longer handle my account. What can I do?

Some firms have chosen to stop servicing their overseas clients. As Portfolio Resources Group, Inc. (PRG) specializes in cross-border clients, it should be able to seamlessly transfer your account from your current brokerage firm or bank and begin to provide you with top-tier brokerage services. The Profile team will assist in the paperwork and other details of the transfer.

How can I transfer my current U.S. brokerage relationship to you?

First, we need to get to know you and your situation to be sure that we can assist you. Then, we will help you to set up a new brokerage account at Portfolio Resources Group, Inc. (PRG). The PRG back office will contact your old brokerage firm and have the assets transferred to your new account. You just sign the paperwork. Once the positions have moved, we can review them and determine how they fit into your overall financial plan. Profile takes care of certain administrative details and financial planning, PRG oversees the actual trading, and Pershing is the custodian of your assets.

How can I withdraw money from my account?

There are three ways to move money out of your accounts: writing a check, using a Visa debit card, or wiring money to another account.

Will I receive a yearly tax statement to give to my accountant to file my taxes?

Yes, the clearing firm provides all documents that American law requires in order to assist you in filing your American returns.

Can I choose a paperless option for my account?

Yes. You can select your e-delivery preferences to suit your needs. You can choose to get some or all mail via e-mail, or select to get communications via regular mail. For enhanced security purposes, given the growing problem of identity theft worldwide, we strongly recommend secure electronic delivery system which is provided by our clearing firm, Pershing LLC., Member NYSE/SIPC, a subsidiary of The Bank of NY Mellon Corporation. Can I view my accounts via the web?

Yes. Clients of Portfolio Resources Group, Inc., have 24/7 access to view accounts. Review your positions, activities, projected cash, Visa and check transactions, statements, tax documents (i.e., 1099’s), and much, much more.
