Dear oleh/olah,

Making aliya can be overwhelming, but the fact that you’re trying to figure things out even before you arrive can only make things easier.

There are some aliya resources on our website for new olim.

Click here for an infographic (with links).

You can find a link to a budget tracker and also a form to help you gather all your assets/liabilities here.

For encouragement in tracking your expenses, read this.

Here’s a piece on the retirement budget.

Perhaps the most important line item in a budget is the Emergency Fund.

Note, that immediately upon arriving in Israel, you will have numerous (potentially large) one-time expenses in setting up your house. These should be accounted for in your budget.

It is typical for housing to be 20% of one’s budget. Added to this are utility bills which may be larger if you have more meters to heat/cool.

Food and other everyday expenses are higher in Israel than in America (perhaps due to the 17% VAT), so keep in mind that your current expenses may increase.

Be in contact if you have other questions and concerns.

All the best,

Doug

P.S. Let me know if you found these aliya resources useful!
