Mr. Schneider, who was well known in Europe for making the finest suits, moved to America and opened up a shop called, “Schneider’s.” He had trouble making ends meet, so he davened very hard in shul.
He said, “Dear Lord, if You make my business a success, I’ll give half the money to You.”
God replied, “You need to improve your branding. Use My name on the storefront.”
“I could call it Schneider and God,” the man said.
“No, I have better name recognition than you. Put My name first.”
And that’s why it’s called Lord & Taylor.
